Coral Planting with Spider Structures
Coral planting using spider structures is an innovative method for restoring damaged reefs. These spider-shaped frames, made of metal or resin, are placed on the seafloor and used to hold coral fragments that are carefully attached to their “legs.” Their open, elevated design allows for good water flow, prevents sediment build-up, and protects young corals from predators and algae. Over time, the corals grow, fuse with the structure, and help create new habitats for marine life.
